Jennifer Massey
has been acting professionally for over 20 years.
She has appeared in numerous television shows,
films, commercials and industrials as well as
on stage. (For specific credits, see Resume.)
As a native of Virginia, Jennifer originally
began her studies as an engineering major at
Virginia Tech with a Marshall Hahn Engineering
scholarship. She studied both engineering and
architecture for several years before transferring
her major to Theatre Arts. She completed her
undergraduate work with two degrees -- one in
Theatre Arts and one in Communications -- graduating
magna cum laude in both subjects.
After
college, Jennifer auditioned for and was invited
to join the 2-year Internship Program at the highly
acclaimed Alliance Theatre in Atlanta, Georgia.
It was in Atlanta that she began her on-camera
career -- doing mostly commercials and industrials,
as well as regional film and television roles. From
there, Jennifer relocated to
Los Angeles, where
she trained and worked for over 9 years.
In Los Angeles, Jennifer studied extensively
with reknowned acting teacher, Diana Castle,
and also with Castle's mentor, Harry Mastrogeorge.
She was also accepted as a student at the Groundlings
Theatre where she trained in comedy improvisation.
She performed stand-up comedy under the tutelage
of Mark Lonow, famed executive of L.A.'s legendary
Improv Comedy Club. Throughout her time in Los
Angeles, Jennifer continued to appear in television
shows, commercials and films as well as performing
in regional theatres both in and outside of
Los Angeles. While in Los Angeles, Jennifer
also studied sign language and performed in
several productions with the critically acclaimed
Deaf West Theatre, including her role as The
Voice of Joan (opposite Linda Bove) in
"Saint Joan," for which Jennifer received a
Dramalogue award for "Best Supporting Actress".
Jennifer recently returned to the East Coast where
her acting career has only progressed. She continues
to perform regularly on television and in film,
travelling throughout the U.S. and overseas. She
currently resides in Virginia, where she occasionally
teaches acting and performs on stage.
